How to Get Involved

  • Sign the petition, and get as many people as you can to sign the petition. It will be presented when the OCDSB Education Committee's recommendations go to the full board (likely in February – stay tuned for details).
  • Write a letter to the Board of Trustees. If you haven't done this yet, now may be your last chance to tell the trustees why you value the Alternative Program and why it should be retained and strengthened. Tell your personal story, or get other ideas from council newsletters and reports.

The email address for the review is elementary_alternative_review@ocdsb.ca. Submssions to this address will be complied for all trustees to see. Or you could decide to send a message directly to your trustee, or all trustees. Trustee e-mail address can be found on the OCDSB site here. Lady Evelyn's website has a list of email addresses for all trustees, central staff working on the review, and the superintendents for the six Alternative schools. Remember to please c.c. programreview@asac-ottawa.org so we get a copy of your message.

  • The new Minister of Education, the Hon Leona Dombrowsky, is from eastern Ontario and could also be copied on emails. Her email address is: ldombrowsky.mpp@liberal.ola.org
  • Print and post some of our posters – you can add your own messages too.
  • Leave your comments on the websites of media outlets covering this issue – find links to most articles here.
